When I first started sports betting, I started out betting mostly spreads and totals. I found this to be pretty lucrative through the beginning/middle part of the season, but as the season wound down, it was more difficult to find consistent action. This brought me to player props.

As an avid card player, I was already pretty familiar with the idea of "prop" bets (it’s something pretty commonplace at the card tables I grew up playing at). With prop betting, I found that not only was there a lot more action, but researching props also gave me an opportunity to take a deeper dive into data analytics. This forged my way into data modeling and handicapping.
