For those that took my season-long ranking futures for this year, here is how we look as we head into the “Asian Swing” and the end of the season. (For those that are new, these get sent in December before tennis season starts)

Holger Rune Top 10 (1.5 unit) - Sits 1200 points behind 10th place. Highly unlikely to get into Top 10 unless he wins a big tournament during the Asia Swing.

Jessica Pegula Top 5 (+145) (1.5 unit) - Currently sits in 3rd and is about 1250 points clear. Mixed results in the Asian Swing last year. Has to defend a 250 title in South Korea. Also has a finals loss to defend in Japan Open. We are in really good shape, all things considered. Feels like it would take a HORRENDOUS finish for her not to cash.

Jelena Ostapenko Top 20 (-139) (1.39 unit) - Currently 12th, and 800 points clear. Doesn’t have any significant points to defend. Should be in the clear unless she gets hurt and can’t play/ 8 players below her would have to have crazy deep runs in multiple tournaments.

Linda Noskova Top 35 (-114) (1.14 unit) - Currently 435 points clear which is significant in this part of the rankings. Only played two tournaments in the Asian Swing last year, so minimal points to defend. If she can win a couple matches in Asia, she will lock this up. She is fighting for a spot in the WTA Elite Trophy at end of year as well.

Karolina Pliskova Top 50 (-122) (.61 unit) - Currently sits #40 almost 200 points clear. HOWEVER, she had surgery on her ankle and is out for year. She has no more than 90 points to defend rest of year (maybe less). Will other ladies pass her? We will see. This was good as gold until the injury.
