••Never in doubt, aye? One run in the eighth inning and the game ended with ten runs scored. Easy-peasy.

I felt really good about this play, not that I ever feel badly about one, but this one looked “top-tier” good. But a big part of this play was the horrible bullpens of both teams. Tampa has, statistically, the worst bullpen in baseball, something very different for them, and LAA isn’t far behind. For example, the Rays pen had given up 67 hits and 43 walks in 65 innings. Twelve homers. That’s 110 base runners in 65 innings, and that many walks? That’s scary. Not only does that mean base-runners, it means pitches grooved down the middle, trying to throw a strike. Almost any wild-throwing pitcher also gets hit hard because at some point, they have to rip it down the middle to get a strike, and when you do that, you’re gonna get hit, even if you’re throwing 100. And LAA....71 base-runners in 55 innings, ERA over 5 and 9 homers allowed.

So yes, I was counting on the bullpen helping out in this one, but nine runs in the 8th and 9th? Nah, I wasn’t counting on that, but I WILL take it!
